An effective upgrade for Hasbro Soundwave
I bought this kit mainly so I could replace the yellow eyes on my Hasbro Soundwave with cartoon accurate red eyes. I wasn't terribly interested in the light up feature (which is only okay and suffers from light bleed), but thankfully the red eyes are bright and reflective enough to look the part even without the LED effects (the same is true of the included yellow eyes). The light up gun looks okay, if not great, but the included sound effects tape is a total misfire. Most of the clips are in Chinese and sound horrible, and the English clips aren't much better. They can't even be selectively played, so you have to cycle through the Chinese audio to get to them (and even then there are only four, two of which are transformation sounds, one of which is a voice clip, with the remaining one being a snippet of the theme G1 tune).
Perhaps the best part of the kit aside from the replacement head is the backpack for MP-36 Megatron, which really cleans up the back kibble and solidifies things. It's almost worth the price of the kit alone! Taking this into account I'd recommend the kit even if if the sound effect gimmicks are a little lame, although truth be told I'd have preferred a kit without all of the light and sound gimmicks at a lower price point.
